I’ll be turning in my latest article for Foundations Revealed this evening after giving it one more review.  I’m pleased with the finished article and it’s been a lot of fun to work on.  It’s currently scheduled for publication in January and I’ll be sure to let you all know when it’s available.

This means other than getting my stockings article up I’m pretty much free through the end of the year and I’m thinking about what I want to work on next.  I have a web design project I’m working on but it doesn’t have a hard deadline.  I’m thinking about trying to finish up my Flander’s Gown by the end of the month and I’m also currently throwing around some ideas in my head for a project for a steampunk party we’re thinking of attending New Year’s Eve.  Maybe I’ll do both.

Or maybe I’ll enjoy some celebratory sushi before making any decisions.

Just a short post this morning but I wanted to let you all know that my 16th and Early 17th Century Cloth stocking tutorial (the one that was published at Foundations Revealed this past May) is going to be available through my website very soon.  I want to do a little reformatting first but I’m hoping to have it available before the end of the year.

This week I start to find myself between projects.  My last article was published and I’ve started writing the next next one.  I’ve finished a couple of sewing projects and I’m getting ready to start a new commission.  This is the time that I generally make updates to my site.  So today when I was making some of those updates I found myself looking over some of my recent accomplishments and thinking that it’s nearly November and the end of the year is on it’s way.

I’ve been sick and haven’t been able to write since War of the Wings but I wanted to post that my latest article, Recreating Elizabethan Bodies, has been published and is available at Foundations Revealed.  Enjoy!

I need to write some more fencing posts!  Well, that will have to wait until next week when my article has been submitted.  It’s all done except for two pictures I need to take tonight.  It’s getting turned in tomorrow.  Excellent.

But I’m sure what you want to read about is War of the Wings, which I went to last weekend.  More »

This weekend was spent working on my new article for Foundations as well as pitching in to help with House Red Wolf’s (the NCSU SCA student group) recruitment demo on Sunday.

The French Knot was one of those embroidery stitches that really gave me a tough time while I was trying to figure it out.  It’s used a lot in finishing thread wrapped buttons so I definitely wanted to master it.  It took me a while but in the end I got it.

For every one else trying to master this stitch, Make It Mine Magazine has a great French Knot tutorial on YouTube that I hope you will find useful.

My beloved husband and I will be heading to the beach for the holiday weekend to spend some time with my family.  We plan to do some diving and hopefully get a chance to see the 17th Century shipwreck that was discovered in Corolla this winter!

More importantly though I plan to take my jacket with me so that I may spend several evenings in a row working on it.  If all goes well I’ll be finishing off the first sleeve and the gores buy Monday evening.

Today I wanted to share a YouTube video with you all on the Plaited Braid Stitch.  I originally ran across it when a friend of mine posted it to her live journal.  I’ll be using this stitch on my seams once the jacket is ready to assemble.  I found this tutorial very useful and wanted to share it with you all as well.

Enjoy!

Two posts in one day!

I just wanted to share with you all that the article I was working on last month for Foundations Revealed has been published!  Please feel free to visit their site to see my new tutorial on 14th Century cloth hosen!

I’ve also had two other article proposals accepted for publication this fall and winter so you all will be hearing more about that in the coming months.

I have just turned in my second Foundations Revealed article.  I am very pleased with the way both articles have turned out and I want to say a special thank you to the folks at Foundations Revealed for allowing me the opportunity to publish my work through their wonderful magazine.  It has been a real pleasure to work with them.

This weekend sees us in Winston Salem.  We had originally planned to attend Sapphire Joust but this past week we lost my grandmother in law so we spending time with family instead.
